Friday night saw the third week of the Braidwood Community Bank's Sponsored Bare-Foot Bowls Competition on a very pleasant sunny evening tempered by a beautiful easterly breeze. This week all the teams arrived on the green soon after six to get away to a good start with some very interesting teams opposing one another.
The Lolly Shop number one team drew to play against the Lolly Shop number two team and the real grudge match was the Braidwood Rural's team against the Landmark Daniel Walker team. The Lolly Shops number two team must have had a couple of their Beef & Gravey Rolls before arriving as they had quite good lead,at the end winning 12 to 9 over the 10 ends perhaps the number two team had dipped into the rum & raisin ice-cream before leaving work.
The Braidwood Rurals Team versus the Landmark team was played with great enthusiasm with both teams having a dose of Cydectin first to get rid of the worms plus some fertilizer for the energy they showed, but all ends were won by one point,at six ends Richard's Landmark team was leading 4 to 2, Damian Briggs went for some Dynamic Lifter Fertilizer which gave the rural team extra power to win the last four ends.
Other teams to win on the night Young Leroy's team had a big win, this boy if he sticks to the game has a great future in bowls, also having wins were the Bendigo Bank,C.B Bowlers & the Dregs team.
An interesting feature of the night composition of players were the number of first time players who filled in as replacements for people who were unable to turn up this week & thanks to these people for helping out.
The Lolly Shop Number one Team won the Community Bank's $200-00 ($50-00) each) which proved you didn't have to win the game to get the money.
In the overall point score of the whole competition 4 teams,The Leroys,C.B.Bowler Dogs & the Lolly Shop's two teams are on 24 points & Braidwood Rural, The Dregs, & Landmark are on 23 points so it a very open competition that any drawn games this week will have to play an extra end.
All teams finished as the sun set ready for the Sausages & bread made ready by the team of Gorrie, Gordon, Barry & Phil, well done boys.
Other Bowls News this week is that it is the Lady Bowlers big day to-day Wednesday with ladies coming from all around for a big gathering of lady bowlers on the greens. On friday night the last night of the Community Bank’s Bare-Foot Bowls and then on Saturday the 6th the Two Bowl Mixed Triples Carnival sponsored again by the Community Bank with Teams coming from the A.C.T. & the South Coast so there should be some good games to watch.
Bowlers are reminded that the Christmas Party / Presentation night is on Saturday week the 13th December and if you have not put your name on the list on the board with your barbecued choice of meat please do so.
On Thursday 11th December at 3-30 P.M. a representative of Bowls Australia.will be here to meet with as many of both lady & men bowlers to discuss various matters pertaining to bowls.
