At our Charter Meeting we had a total of twenty two keen members, who made the promise to uphold the aims and objectives (see list below) of Toastmasters International.
This promise has been kept by a few stalwarts who have made wonderful advancements within the Club and are now very capable Speakers for any occasion. At Toastmasters the average person learns how to speak confidently and with style at a Wedding, Funeral, Social or Business event, or even simply going for a job interview!
Our membership has dwindled somewhat, but the stayers are still strong and keen, and we would be most delighted to have some younger faces among us so that some of the expertise we have acquired can be passed onto the up and coming would be leaders in our Community.
We invite you to come to our Fiftieth Meeting on Tuesday 28th April, at the Braidwood Servicemen’s Club, commencing at 5.30pm where we will also be commemorating ANZAC. (Followed by a meal in the dining room after the Meeting, if desired).
Alternatively we are commencing our Lunch Time, High Noon Meetings, just one hour long, starting Friday 1st May. See our advertisement in the Classifieds.
At either or both of these functions visitors are very welcome, just for the entertainment or to ‘check us out’ and there’s NO entry fee. Our meetings are always full of fun and laughter as well as a learning experience.
The fundamental objective of Toastmasters International is to educate men and women through the process of self-improvement and leadership training so that they may increase their confidence and usefulness in business, professional and community life. “Toastmasters is suitable for everybody in the community"
Objectives: Toastmasters seek to - improve their oral expression and thought; develop their confidence and ability to speak in public; obtain instruction and experience in the conduct of meetings; promote the habit of analytical listening; assist each other through constructive evaluation; develop their capacity for leadership; promote good fellowship among men and women; advance mutual understanding through more effective communication; foster and encourage "Better Listening, Thinking and Speaking".
After reading the Objectives, I ask you “Isn’t this what most of us would like to be adept at doing?” Especially for the younger generation who have left school and now have to face the world of business and citizenship on their own two feet.
