It's the 20th century items that are clapped out, and we don't have any 21st century ones at all. To survive in a rural area, I run a farm, and conduct several businesses which involve clients - private, government and commercial - throughout Australia and overseas. It is absolutely essential that I can do this quickly and efficiently online, or I will simply have to move back to a city.
However our Telstra service is so very poor, I've given up trying to bank online or email clients documents and a movie is quite out of the question. Still pictures are nearly impossible to view and can take many hours to download. Whenever it rains the internet and the telephone go down immediately.
Telstra's overseas call centres have no comprehension of where we are and suggest we visit a Telstra branch. The Telstra shop staff suggest we telephone their call centre... and no-one is even vaguely interested in helping resolve the matter by upgrading the hopelessly overloaded Majors Creek exchange. The last Telsra repairman who came here said in dismay "You're paying for a Rolls-Royce and getting horse and cart service". At least my horse and cart works!
Not good enough Telstra.
