The group visited local farms and got a feel for the town.
The mission of the Rural Clinical School at ANU is to enhance the health of our region through leadership in community, rural and indigenous health education, research, innovation and partnership.
One of the innovations of the school has been the integration of teaching activities in rural South East NSW practices.
The Rural Clinical School educational program is considered the best in the country. During the four years of the Medicinae ac Chirurgiae Doctoranda (MChD), Latin for Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, all of the students are given the opportunity to spend a minimum of eight weeks in clinical placements around South East NSW. Here they will gain a deep understanding of the clinical issues and challenges unique to rural medicine.
Students with a strong interest in rural health can enter the rural stream within the MChD program. These students spend their entire third year as part of a general practice in a rural town and also work under supervision at the local hospital.
