Perhaps readers could help answer a mystery?

Why does our shire feel it necessary to repeatedly lay twin strips of poison along our roads?

Is there a special, unique environmental reason for this shire alone to be spraying the remnant native orchids, native grasses, reeds, lizards and frogs which take refuge on road sides and in culverts?

Perhaps it is a rate payer funded experiment in developing herbicide resistant annual weeds?

I just don’t know, because the shire hasn’t replied to letters on the issue. Maybe they don’t know either.

D Trump won handsomely, but will he or indeed can he, fulfill the needs of those who provided the biggest block of votes. Namely disenfranchised, lesser educated, older white under employed males in particular, with a strong showing from lower middle class women. Those combined votes, arguably, were more a vote against the establishment than for Donald. There was also an  anti-politically correct cheer squad block, but their votes  were for the Donald personally. So how will he honor the social contract he has with them all, to reinstate their aspirational hopes. Search me!  What I will be watching for are the parallels here in Braidwood. At first glance Pauline looks like cashing in. However, I think  Nick X. is the closest fit within our political structure; no two horse race. Notwithstanding NickX can make a lot of sense. As for political correctness, he only has to goof-off occasionally and a swag of unsolicited votes will rain down.  

I have to add, predicting a win for uncle Donald is not a vote for him. I wouldn’t have voted for either of them.
