An iconic figure in the town, after nearly 70 years living in Braidwood, Mr Robertson passed away in January of this year. He spent the final nine months of his life in the Braidwood Multi-Purpose Service.
In memory of ‘Pop’ and in gratitude for the care he received, the Robertson family recently donated a bed to the MPS.
“The kindness they showed towards Dad, and to my Mum when she was there, was unbelievable” says Ian’s son Jock Robertson.
“They are just wonderful wonderful nurses there. It’s a wonderful little hospital.
“We decided to do it on behalf of Dad. It’s nice to think that we have done it for people in the future.”
The bed can be lowered to floor level, to reduce the risk of falls for confused or disorientated patients.
Trish Hemler, nurse manager at the MPS, thanked the Robertsons for their generous gift.
