To help facilitate this, Local Government NSW will be holding two candidate information sessions to inform interested parties on the process of running for council.
The meetings will cover the nomination process, responsibilities of councillors and other necessary information.
The session times are July 18 at Queanbeyan Council Chambers and July 19 at Bungendore Council Chambers. Both are scheduled for 6pm to 9pm.
Candidate nominations will officially open on July 31 and close on August 9.
Residents will elect 11 councillors in the first ever election for the combined Queanbeyan-Palerang region.
Those who decide to nominate for the election will have to attend a second round of meetings in August to be familiarised with local issues and council procedures.
