The 63 year old has lived in Karabar for eight years and wants elected members of the first Queanbeyan-Palerang council to create “a consultative and open council”.

“I am committed to a consultative and open council that provides services to all sections of the community,” she said.

“We need a strong united council that works together to forge our own destiny with councillors who are prepared to work for the community in ways that reflect the community’s values.” 

Her platform is to attract new business to the district, protect environment and heritage and improve transport and telecommunication links. 

She also prioritizes sound financial management and strategic planning for services. 

Before voters decide on September 9 Ms Langford wants them to find out which former councillors are standing and think about how hard they worked for their constituents to achieve community needs. 

“We need a mix of competent and dedicated former councillors plus new councillors willing to learn quickly, work hard and listen to their communities,” she said.

"This is the only way to grow communities in the way community members need them.”
