UNDER 11'S
Herefords defeated Droughtmasters 2-0. This week was a top effort by both sides. Herefords put two goals in the back of the net but there was great defence work by Droughtmasters. It was a very close game.
Angus defeated Longhorns 2-1. Great game by both teams with Darcy Lyons scoring a spectacular goal in the second half.
UNDER 13’S
Charolais versus Holsteins 3-3. A hard fought, close game. The score reflected the good teamwork of each side. Goals from Lily, Tim, Angus, Tristam and Callam.
Square Meaters defeated Murray Greys 4-0. The Square Meaters were just too strong this week, with Zac, Jeremy and Nina all scoring goals
PALERANG UNITED
Well done Palerang United teams, so far this season you have scored 71 goals. This means you have already earned $710 from Bendigo Community Bank to support the Braidwood Life Centre.
U14’S BOYS
The Under 14’s boys took on the top of the comp team, Belsouth Lightening on their home turf. We scored 2 goals they scored somewhere between 10 -16 maybe? Lost count. Brave boys against Goliath of division 2 under 14s. We scored 1st, so there!!!
All gave a good account on themselves. (From Coach Nick Munnings)
U15'S GIRLS
Palerang United under 15 girls took on the Monaro Panthers on Saturday. Both teams were equal second on the leader. The two teams went blow for blow in the first half until our striker Nina Garcia scored first, only to fall victim to the Monaro team soon after who levelled the scores at one all.
It was looking like the team would go to the half time break even until Nina Garcia got a good ball from the mid field. Nina made a half field break down the sideline before making a beautiful cross to striker Kaitlyn Ward and Haddie Davies. Haddie was able to connect with the ball to find the back of the net, taking us to half time leading 2-1.
The second half saw a confident start by Monaro who came out firing and scored three quick goals to take a 4-2 lead. To the girls credit they continued to fight and press the Monaro team until the very end, but just couldn't get back into the game.
The girls once again showed courage and Monique was taken from the field with two head knocks in the second half. Rita Marshall played a solid defensive game.
Heads up girls we will learn from this game which will make us a stronger team in the coming rounds. (From Coach Brad Carey)
MENS DIV 8
The Palerang United Men’s team took on the high flying Belnorth team in Braidwood in a tough clash. Palerang United have suffered a heap of injuries in the past month and some players are lacking the match fitness required to keep up with play, however one thing our Men do is never give up. An early goal for Belnorth came from some loose marking at the back. But then an extended period of play saw both teams have several good chances on goal. Dan Ison had some menacing chances on goal but with no success. Joe Maloney was back from a broken nose and created a few breaks out wide and Troy Clark played a controlled game in the centre of the backline. Unfortunately Belnorth managed to score another three goals to complete a comfortable win in the end. Final score Belnorth 4 Palerang 0 and next week the men are away against Brindabella at Calwell. Good Luck boys! (From Coach Mark Roberts)
LADIES
The Ladies Palerang United team came up against Belwest with a run of good form recently sending them to top of the ladder on goal difference. The top three teams have only 1 point separating them so a tough game ensued. Palerang United suffer from being a one team club in each division and Both Belwest and Tuggeranong United have the luxury of bringing some players down from a higher division to bolster the squads however, Palerang United are a special bunch of players who love a challenge. The first 25 minutes saw a total domination of the game by Palerang United and some outstanding football was played. A brilliant individual run from Courtney Doyle saw her rewarded with the opening goal of the game. More pressure was applied from our creative midfield and it was unfortunate that we couldn’t manage another goal of the game. Belwest through on their better players and the nature of the game changed with more niggle and smarter game play from their midfield. It was a cruel way to lose a game with a long shot from the edge of the centre circle just creeping over the outstretched hand of our keeper to level the game and then a cross that was on target in the final minute of the game which just dipped under the crossbar to win the game for Belwest. Final score 2-1 to Belwest but they know how dangerous we can be if we have our shooting boots on. Great effort ladies and next week you take on Gungahlin United at Kaleen.(From Coach Mark Roberts)
