Wisbey’s peaches are famous across the region and the orchards have 25,000 trees over 100 acres at the northern end of the Valley. The orchards are home to two permanent employees, and varying numbers of backpackers from around the world, with a payroll of around 30 in the picking season. The property has 210 MgL of irrigation licences, and over 2km frontage to Majors and Araluen Creeks. Angus cows and calves roam the pastures adjacent to the orchards.
Robyn had spent many years in the financial services industry, but having originally grown up on a property near Cooma, had wanted to get back to the soil and a country lifestyle. Yet Robyn feels it is time for a change.
At the end of the season Wisbey’s sponsors the annual picker and packers race which has become an annual endurance tradition, where fit young packers run from the packing shed up- the Majors Creek Mountain Road to the Majors Creek Pub.
Last year Robyn started the Wisbey’s Café which caters for tourist and passing trade and ‘orchard door’ sales in a modern extension to the packing shed. You can sip your coffee not far from the hustle and bustle of the packing during the busy season, or enjoy the peace of the valley during blossom time.
The property has ‘State of the art’ processing and cool stores, a 3 bedroom brick homestead, manager’s residence, and comfortable staff accommodation for 30 people.
Known variously as the Valley of Peace, Happy Valley and the Place of Water lilies, the Araluen Valley is one of the most picturesque pockets of NSW and the sale is likely to draw interest from far and wide.
The Sale is being handled jointly by Landmark Braidwood and Chris Meares Online Auction which commences on 27th October, 11.00am and closes Wednesday 29th October, 2014 at 3pm. See www.braidwoodproperty.com.au
