Braidwood Central School will use a $2,500 Eco Schools grant to fund a greenhouse and waste management project, the Member for Monaro John Barilaro said last Wednesday.

Mr Barilaro said the NSW Government was providing the grants to support students and educators across the electorate.
“Students at Braidwood Central School will learn plant propagation in a harsh climate and sustainable living skills including composting and worm farming,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Protecting and enhancing the environment of NSW is our shared responsibility and this funding program supports the community to care for their own environments.”
Mr Barilaro said the grants were part of a $2.4 million funding round for schools, community groups, research organisations and government agencies.
“In this round of Environmental Trust grants, the NSW Government is funding 122 projects across four programs: Eco Schools, Food Gardens in Schools, Environmental Research and Environmental Education,” said Mr Barilaro.
“We have awarded grants to 50 Food Gardens in Schools projects worth $175,000, half of which has been targeted to assist students with special learning needs. A further $115,000 has been awarded to fund 46 Eco Schools projects.”
NSW Environment Minister Rob Stokes said in this round of funding the NSW Government has awarded a further $2.1 million to fund eight ambitious research projects and 18 educational programs, all of which will generate knowledge and deliver benefits to the state’s environment.
“I encourage educators, community members, government employees and researchers to view the successful projects in this round and consider applying to the NSW Environmental Trust for funding in the future,” said Mr Stokes.
The NSW Government has awarded 134 grants totalling $35.2 million through the Environmental Trust’s contestable grants programs.
