Well once again we had to combine all teams, I am not sure how many were at the sub-juniors but from the canteen it looked like a very small turn out.
The under 8’s were all combined into two teams and the kids still had a great game of soccer, also the under 11’s were gathered up and put into two teams and had to play a full size field due to lack of numbers which resulted in a 6/1 win for the team wearing the bibs. A super effort by all players on the field in a fast paced game with goal scorers being Huey Lyons with 1 goal, Henry Beale with 1 goal, Sam Watson with 1 goal, Reggie D’Arcy with 2 goals and Leroy Campbell-Davys with another goal. The 1 goal for the non-bibs was by Brodie Parsons.
Palerang Soccer saw the under 12’s win there game 4/2 against Woden Valley Firebirds.
Coach Jason says, “Another well earned win for Palerang U12’s on the weekend taking home a 4-2 win against Woden valley Firebirds, although we were a bit slow at the start in the second half we came to our own providing excellent passing and ball control from the forwards, the wings came through with absolute support for the centres chipping in from out wide to create the opportunities needed to get runs on the board, although I think our mids and back lines didn’t have the game as the previous weekend they were still able to hold Woden back consistently to stop them breaking through. It was great to see these lines taking on board our training sessions involving marking up and one on one basis only and not wasting to many of our players on the ball person. Please keep this in mind guys for our next game. Well done to our goalies also with some quick clean ups and ball kicking.”
Thank you Woden Valley for a fair, enjoyable and challenging game, well done to all players.
Coach Jason.
The under 14 Palerang Pinks won against Monaro Panthers 3/0. It was a great game in what you could only say were Arctic conditions. The girls still played unbelievably well. Goals were scored by Logan Hunt with 2 goals and Lyla Crosbie with 1.
The under 15 boys also won their match against Gungahlin Strikers winning 6/2. Well played by all players. Goal scorers were Harry, Callaum, Lachlan and Romney Smith with a fantastic long range goal.
Well done everyone!
Just a reminder that local soccer does not finish until Saturday the 17/9/2016 which is also presentation day at the rec ground.
