On Sunday the Bendigo Bank-sponsored Braidwood Bowling Clubs Mixed Triples Carnival was held with 54 bowlers gracing the Braidwood greens in 18 teams.
The games were of three games of 12 ends with two games before the barbecue lunch and one after. The first game started in glorious spring weather and the team that won the money for this game was Scott Marquet’s from Queanbeyan.
In the second game, a Braidwood team (Heather George, Tubby Cargill and skip Jungle Lang) were victorious with a win plus 8 ends against a much-favoured Queanbeyan team.
The third game was interrupted by a sharp shower, which ended play after 8 ends, but the score card was won by another Queanbeyan team led by D. Walsh.
The big winners of the day over the three games were M. Britton, D. Van Reech and P. Walker with an overall win in the three games plus 15 of the 32 ends played.
In second place was the team of N. Savino, E. Ilijas and K. Pickard with wins in two games plus a draw +16. Third place went to Peter Rowe’s team with a score of two wins and a draw +15.
Club president Damian Campbell-Davies in presenting the prize monies thanked the Braidwood Community Bank for their sponsorship of this successful day. He also congratulated the voluntary greenkeepers for having the greens in great order; all those who helped with the barbecue; and morning and afternoon teas.
Raffles (in aid of a health charity): Julia Reynolds won lamb donated by the Cargill family; Jungle won the Braidwood Rural voucher, his second win of the day; Bushrat won the fuel voucher; Johnny Ts, the red wine.
The Possum’s comment was it looked to be a great day even if the last game got rained on.
Bare-foot bowls
