The Australian B team, including Theo Cassidy of Braidwood, has won the Rifle Metallic Silhoutte Pacific Regional Shooting Championship held in Canberra this past weekend.
The Australian B team, in which Cassidy was competing, came top, winning all three events - air rifle, rim fire and hunting rim fire. The Australia B team, consisting of Theo Cassidy and Dan Suthern, beat all New Zealand teams and the Australia A and C teams.
Cassidy shot silver in three individual events: the rim fire silhouette, the rim fire hunting silhouette and the three gun event.
Cassidy, who started shooting when he was 13, has returned to the field after a break of about 10 years. He is glad that he was able to keep his form acceptable despite the long break, saying “it was good to get back into it and compete with the people I used to shoot with 10 years ago”.
