I was impressed by the breadth of thought that had gone into the [Ryrie Park] concept plans and the feeling the consultants clearly had for our town. Whilst I personally won’t be using the skateboard park and play area, I reckon it sits well on the northern slope of the park. As Elspeth Kernbone said in her Editorial: it’s tough being young and youth need physical space to flourish; but that space also needs to be safe ie. overlooked.

Heritage listing should both be an economic advantage for the town and a protection against suburban sprawl, it can do this and cope with skate parks. I would add that the conduct of the meeting was also impressive: information was given clearly, questions from the floor were comprehensively answered and suggestions taken on board.

Daffodil Fair thanks
On behalf of the Braidwood Anglican Parish and Daffodil Fair Committee we wish to convey our heartfelt thanks, firstly to God for stopping the wind in time for tents to be erected and secondly for all who worked so hard on the day and the days and weeks leading up to the Fair and most of all to the community of Braidwood and surrounds for your wonderful support, your presence made the day a great success.
Congratulations to all the raffle winners. And special congratulations to all the children from preschools, home school, Braidwood Central School and St Bedes School whose art works were amazing, all of which have been returned to the respective schools. Thank you for taking the time to draw and paint your wonderful pieces of art.
Congratulations to all those who won prizes in the floral and vegetable art competition. Lastly congratulations to the sponge cake makers and winners. Special thanks to the judges of all those competitions.
Thank you too for the use of the many tents that were made available and beautifully and graciously erected by the community. Without the help, support and donations from the community we would not be able to run the Fair.
There is always the danger of missing someone out of this kind of thank you list but we ask that you be assured of our gratitude.
