Watching their kids dance at the Braidwood dance studio end of year concert, parents saw good it was for kids from across the community to collaborate on a creative project, says Annie Duke, president of the new Braidwood Youth Performing Arts Association.
Apart from the dance studio, and a few private music tuition classes, there
“One of our key things is broadly to promote performing arts opportunities of all descriptions for the kids,” Ms Duke said.
“There’s a lack and there’s a lot of really talented kids in the community.”
The group will be partnering with Braidwood Dance Studio to support the end of year concert, as well as running a school holiday program in January.
In the future the group will look to finding a space to facilitate classes and workshops for kids.
“We’d really like to set up a youth performing arts centre,” Ms Duke said.
Their first organised event is ‘Braidwood’s Got Talent’ is a chance for kids to shine.
The night will feature the town’s best young singers, dancers, musicians and actors.
