In 2016, she had a tumor removed from her pituitary gland.
After the surgery, she held a raffle and was able to donate $6000 to her surgeon’s fund, called ‘Brainstorm’.
She then spent the winter cutting and splitting firewood to raise money for the Brainstorm fund.
Now, she is facing surgery again, and she’s still trying to raise money.
At her 12 month check up in late 2017, doctors found another tumor.
In the next few months, she faces another surgery to remove this tumor.
To raise money for Brainstorms, Ms Noakes is organising a fundraiser ‘Going Country for Brainstorm’.
The event will be held at Gundillion Hall, where Ms Noakes says she’s had some of the best nights of her life.
Three musical acts will provide the entertainment, local Jeff King, Calum, and country rockers the Craig Knox Band.
Guests will be able to graze on pigs and lambs on spits, with donated Dojo rolls, and all the bits.
“Dancing and drinking and bidding” will be the order of the night says Ms Noakes. Raffles will be held to raise money for the Brainstorm fund.
Ms Noakes surgeon will also be coming from Sydney, to give a presentation to the crowd.
Despite facing the prospect of her second surgery, Ms Noakes is not just fundraising for herself.
Incidence of brain cancer is low, but sufferers have a high mortality rate, and only a small amount of Federal funding goes to research.
“It’s not only to help me, it’s to try to help others,” she say.
