The Subbies showed great improvement this week in their understanding of the game. A special mention goes to Aiden, Peony, Elijah and Teddy, who all played extremely well.
The Under 7s saw a 2-2 draw between the Galahs and the Magpies. Lots of great attempts at goal by Mack, Aidan and River. Gordon, Elsa and Hayley all had a particularly great game.
The Kookaburras took out a 2-0 win over the Cockatoos. They took the lead quickly with an early goal. While the Cockatoos had a lot of attempts at goal in the second half, the Kookaburras’ defence was too strong. It was a great game by all; in particular Dean, Hamish, Sonny, Rose, Brodie and Harper.
In the Under 9’s, the Stars took on the Jets, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. It was a very tight match with a scoreless first half. Some great end to end work lead to a goal but Tommy Gilbert. It looked as though the pinks were going to take out the win, only for Patrick Clarke to come up with a great goal right at the end resulting in a draw.
The Comets proved too good against the Rockets, and won 3-0. Benjamin and James had their best games for the season so far, pushing up and defending all day while Jake and Jimmy had great attacking raids, and Maddie came through with some long attacking runs in the middle. Orlando and Zac had a lot of attempts at goal which were unfortunately stopped before the nets. Amelia showed her skills yet again in both attack and defence as well.
In the Over 11s, the Rebels and The Young Guns drew at 2-2. The first half saw the only goal scoring with Hugh, Leroy, Nelson and Hunter all finding the back of the nets. The second half was all about defence with excellent goal keeping from Tess and Kayla. Thanks to George for refereeing.
The Palerang Under 13s team also had a home game this week, taking out a huge and well deserved win of 8-0 over Queanbeyan City.
No matter how hard Quenbeyam tried to score, no one was getting past Tess, who week after week throws everything she has at goal keeping. Goal scorers for Palerang were Brodie with two, Nelson with two and a hat-trick for Leroy, with an own goal scored by Queanbeyan our team held out for the full 60 minutes and took home their biggest win of the season.
