The Small Farms Network Capital Region is hosting an erosion workshop on Saturday 13 October 2018 in Bungendore. This workshop is about finding solutions to erosion and providing skills to undertake small scale erosion control on farms. The workshop will afford the opportunity to learn techniques for managing erosion including practical, low cost methods using materials from on-site.
Alex James from the Small Farms Network warns that participants should be prepared to get their hands dirty!
Workshop participants will be working alongside local professionals who will be demonstrating practical take-home skills.
There will be a focus on two different types of erosion and discussion of management techniques for both. The focus of the workshop is practical activity where participants can get involved in the repair work. Revegetation techniques and how to revegetate degraded landscapes will be discussed.
Other topics include what approvals are required for work on farms, what to ask a contractor before they start work on an erosion site, planning your works program and where to get advice about erosion.
Guest speakers are David Hilhorst and Andy Taylor who are Senior Land Services Officers from the Rural Landscapes Program, South East Local Land Services and Scott Soper a bush regenerator with over 20 years’ experience.
The ticket price is $20 (plus booking fee). Morning tea and lunch are provided.
