The event first started over 50 years ago and was reignited in 2013. The Cup is played at alternate venues, and this year the Braidwood team travelled to Bungendore.
The competition is played in a doubles format with 12 players representing their respective towns. Braidwood ended up winning the day 12 sets to six to retain the Palerang Cup for a fourth year in a row.
Four of these sets went to 6 games to 5, which was the difference at the end of the day.
All players also had to contend with very windy playing conditions.
The Braidwood team consisted of captain Michael Toirkens, Reto Fehrer, Martin Born, Craig Munn, Damien Bigg, Jenny Daniher, Hayden Orford, Dean Dodd, husband and wife team Joel and Stacey Goode and father and son team Peter and Albert Hazell.
Albert, only 13 years of age, made his debut and played some excellent tennis.
Craig Munn said he "always enjoy[s] this event and Bungendore always are terrific hosts and provide lovely food for the players."
Captain Michael Toirkens thanked the Bungendore team for their sportsmanship and fair play.
Many thanks to Jenny Daniher from Braidwood and Peter Robinson from Bungendore who ensure that these events always run smoothly. Next year Braidwood will host.
The Palerang Cup will be proudly displayed in various shop fronts around Braidwood.
