The kids competed in pretty much every event they could, says father Elliot Dixon.
They did very well, but they have a lovely attitude the family, they have a go.
- Maryanne Hannan
The family has been training with GMAC for at least seven years now.
Coming from a sporty background, he and the kids’ mum Sam were keen to see the kids enjoy athletics.
“It’s a social thing, because there’s a lot of kids in the Goulburn club, and on meet nights they just go and have a lot of fun,” he said.
GMAC had 22 athletes compete at the ACT championships this year.
Club president Marryanne Hannan said overall the club did well, with several medals, and nearly every child achieving a personal best in one event.
Of the club’s 153 registered athletes, the Dixons are the only family she knows who compete from the Braidwood area.
Hannan has been impressed by the attitude of the Dixon kids, who are always willing to try unfamiliar events. At the March championships, this included walks – an event which GMAC does not train for.
“They did very well, but they have a lovely attitude the family, they have a go,” Hannah said.
